Manchester United will be looking to extend their unbeaten start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they travel to face Fulham in the Premier League fixture on Saturday.

United can move into the top four with a victory at Craven Cottage and will be hopeful of doing so against the side currently 19th in the division.

However, they won’t be coming up against Timothy Fosu-Mensah on Saturday due to Premier League regulations.

The United loanee has been at Fulham since the start of the season but will not be allowed to face his former side this weekend due to league guidelines.

Premier League regulations state that players on loan are not permitted to play against the team which holds their registration.

Even if that rule wasn’t in place it would have been unlikely for the Dutch international to start this weekend given the manner in which his loan spell in London has gone so far.

Fosu-Mensah has only been involved in three of the last 15 matchday squads, and has only completed 90 minutes once since the end of October.

The 21-year-old has played 34 minutes since Claudio Ranieri replaced Slaviska Jokanovic as Fulham manager on November 14 and was told he could leave the club in the January transfer window.

Speaking last month the Fulham manager also revealed that the youngster would be allowed to return to United if they wanted him.

“If Manchester United want him he can go, because with me he hasn’t played often and I understand he is young and he needs to play,” Ranieri said.

“At this moment for me it is very important to achieve our goal now, which is to save Fulham [from relegation].”
