Another Argentina Legend to Announce Resignation

Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli will leave his post following the poor World Cup showing and a meeting with the head of the FA, according to ‘ESPN’.

The aforementioned source has claimed that the decision could be made official between Wednesday and Thursday.

The manager had a meeting with Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA, in which they agreed he would step down. Both sides have agreed to bring this chapter to and end, and the contracts will be mutually terminated.

Sampaoli has a contract until the 2022 World Cup, but it contains a clause which would allow it to be terminated following the 2019 Copa America, if either side wishes.

What this means is that, if the AFA were to relieve him of his duties now, it could cost them almost €13million.

Other sources are claiming that Sampaoli has not resigned and neither has the AFA asked him to. The problem he faces is that the Argentine public, and even his squad, no longer give him any backing.
