Tottenham leading in race for Lyon Midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘great chance’ of signing Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Tanguy Ndombele with the North London club ‘several steps’ ahead of the competition, according to Téléfoot.

Mousa Dembele looks destined to leave North London, with clubs from Serie A and the Chinese Super League showing strong interest, meaning Mauricio Pochettino is keen to seek a replacement.

Ndombele joins Lyon this summer following a successful loan spell last season from Amiens SC having made 50 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit.

ottenham are keen to gift manager Pochettino with a new midfielder with the club set to allow Dembele to leave.

The Argentine is backing the decision to offload the 30-year-old and the club to go in search of a replacement.

Ndombele is a player that Spurs have kept an eye on and now look set to make a move for the French midfielder following his impressive breakout season.

Last season, he helped Lyon to a third-placed finish and reach the Round of 16 in the Europa League.

The North London club are understood to be ahead in the race to sign the player and their chances of doing so are seen as ‘great’.
