Ramos: De Gea not good enough for Real Madrid

Spain international, Sergio Ramos is believed to have asked Real Madrid not to spend time pursuing Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea, stating his national team teammate is not good enough for the reigning European champions.

Real Madrid had been a long term admirer of the Spain national team first choice goalkeeper and they have made attempts to bring him back to La Liga in the past without much success.

However, Ramos who is a controversial and divisive figure, is reported to have advised Madrid to make a move for Atletico Madrid’s shot stopper Jan Oblak instead, a move which is sure to generate controversy due to the unwritten agreement between both sides not to poach each other’s top talents. If Real Madrid decide to toe the line dictated by the club’s captain, the La Liga giants would have to shell out a whopping £88 million stated in the player’s release clause.
