Zlatan: I want to enjoy the World Cup as a spectator

Sweden’s larger than life former international, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stated that despite being excluded from his country’s team to the 2018 World Cup, he still plan to be in Russia.

There were calls by section of the Swedish fan base and the country’s media for the LA Galaxy striker to be included in the squad to the football show piece in Russia but the manager refused to encourage the forward to come out retirement. However, the former Manchester United star states that he knew he will not be playing at the tournament if his country qualified but the situation has afforded him the opportunity to enjoy the World Cup spectacle as a fan.

“It was clear that I was not going to be in the national team playing, but like I said four years ago and I say it again now: the FIFA World Cup without me is not worth watching! I really mean that. But it is now possible that I will be present anyway, and I will enjoy the World Cup from close up. So as a partner with Visa, I am happy for that. We will be there, and we will take over,” Zlatan said.
