Here is the WHOLE PROCESS of Preparing a Real Pilau
Ingredients
- Ikg Rice
- 1kg meat
- 1/2 kg tomatoes sliced or blended
- 1/2 Kg potatoes peeled and quartered
- 1 bulb Garlic
- 1 piece fresh Ginger
- 1/2kg onions
- 125ml cooking oil
- 6-8 peppercorns
- 6 cloves
- 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
- 4 cardamom pods
- 2-4 cinnamon sticks
METHOD
- Boil meat and wash rice
- Put all the spices in a bowl and cover with water.
- Pound the garlic and ginger together.
- Fry onions and add garlic and ginger to fry further.
- Now add meat cut into big pieces and mix together.
- Add the tomatoes as you keep stirring
- Let it cook on moderate heat for a few minutes and then add the spice.
- Put in the washed rice with water.
- Add potatoes towards the end of the cooking.
- Simmer the rice until it’s ready.
- Cover let it cook on reduced heat for 10 -15 minutes
- Serve pilau with kachumbari
