The second week of February is always filled with love as Valentine’s Day comes on 14th February.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, do not say that I did not remind you that tomorrow, Sunday is the D-day, whether you decide to save your soul in church or fill someone’s soul with love; that I leave to you.
Anyway, a lot of things have happened in our country this week with a sad story of a ‘love gone sour’ in our political scene, drama and also grieving moments.
The Uhuru- Ruto Break-up
For a long time, the relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto has been said to be a murky one, with neither of them confirming it.
Now, President Uhuru could no longer sit back and watch his deputy transverse the country, campaigning for his 2022 ambitions while dragging his name in the mud.
The head of State has now dared his deputy to resign on grounds of double-speaking. According to him, Ruto talks of government failure while going round the country taking credit for government projects.
“On one hand he is saying the government has failed and on the other hand he is saying we as a government have done this and that development. That is doublespeak, you can’t be speaking of the failures of a government where you serve while at the same time outlining what you refer to as we have achieved as a government. You better resign,” said President Kenyatta.
Mike Sonko off the Hook
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is now a free man after the courts released him on a Ksh 300,000 cash bond. After spending a week behind the bars, the Former County boss was set free as investigations on his assault aiding terrorism charges are being reviewed by the courts.
Muthama and Kalonzo Face off in Machakos gets Dirty
A battle of supremacy fills Machakos County as former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and the Former area Senator Johnson Muthama continue to face off.
The two are fighting over the Machakos Senatorial by-elections, as Kalonzo fronted Muthama’s ex-wife to contest the seat under the Wiper Party. Muthama on the other hand has Urbanas Ngengele under his UDA Party.
The two had an ugly face-off this week during a funeral in the county, with the former VP saying that he will return Muthama’s wife after she clinches the Senate seat.
Now Muthama has accused Kalonzo of having an affair with his ex-wife. “I had been hearing as back as 1985 after I divorced my wife in 1983, there were rumours that Kalonzo used to move with my former wife, they continued with the same wife until recently when she left my house where she was housed by me courtesy of our children,” he stated.
Irungu Kang’ata is Out
Well, it seems the Jubilee Party did not achieve the level of cleanliness they wanted in their house last year after doing away with the likes of Kipchumba Murkomen, Susan Kihika and Aden Duale.
The party identified another thorn in their flesh this week, Irungu Kang’ata. In a Parliamentary Group meeting held at KICC on Tuesday, the party dewhiped its Senate Majority whip. Kang’ata was immediately replaced with Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
The Murang’a Senator fell out with the party after a leaked letter he wrote to the President saying that BBI was unpopular and unwelcomed in the Mount Kenya region.
Road Accident at Gilgil
A dark cloud befell the country on Friday morning after 9 people lost their lives in a road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
The road carnage that occurred at Gilgil involved a 14-seater matatu and a truck. This left 8 people dead on the spot, with another one taking their last breath at St. Joseph’s hospital.
May the souls rest in peace and quick recovery to the injured.
Jacque Maribe in the Race to Become Eric Omondi’s ‘Wife’
In this Valentine’s week, love has filled the air, and people are busy searching for their lost ribs.
Former Citizen TV news anchor, Jacque Maribe is in a race to become comedian Eric Omondi’s ‘wife’. Even though the two have a son together, it seems that they want to cement their union officially.
The Wife Material show season 1 ended after Eric settled on Carol as his better half. However, it seems that he isn’t stopping, the search is still on.
