Elachi’s Throws Out Guyo on First Triumphant Return

Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi has finally taken charge of her job after chaos marred her first return to City Hall.

Elachi, on Tuesday took mantle of her responsibilities with a bang, 13 months since she was ousted in disastrous fashion.

The speaker was tasked to appoint new members to the Nairobi Assembly Service Board.

The new appointees Hamza MCA Mark Ndungu and Nairobi West MCA Maurice Gari, were sworn in during a short ceremony that took place in Elachi’s office.

The vocal Mark was given the position of Vice- Chairman after  Majority Leader Abdi Guyo was ousted from the board following recommendations made by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Mark stated he would be diligent when rendering the services required by the county assembly.

The embattled Elachi during the ceremony reminded the members the guidelines needed to be followed while serving the residents of the city.

Elachi retained her old job a week after a directive was issued by Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju following consultations with the county parliament.

Tuju noted that the speaker will continue serving in her capacity despite rejections from a section of the ward representatives.

“Raphael Tuju has enabled a truce within the County Assembly. Among the promises made s is that the leadership of the County Assembly will hasten Speaker Beatrice Elachi’s return to office.” read a tweet from the ruling party.

The verdict was necessary as it gave Elachi a breathing room, following the occurrence of fresh drama on October 9 when County Assembly Guyo stormed her offices in a bid to evict her.

The mayhem escalated when tear gas was lobbed into the office and caused the leaders to scamper away for safety.

As it has come to be accustomed to, the blame game emerged with Elachi claiming that Guyo wanted to kill her.

She explained that a meeting had been set up by the politician to have her thrown out of the building for a second time.

The twist into the matter however took a twist after Guyo went to the DCI to record a statement alleging that his life too was in danger.
