Uhuru Mourns NMG Boss’ Mother

President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday, sent a message of condolence and comfort to the family, relatives and friends of the late Martha Njeri Ng’ang’a, who passed on last Friday while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

Mama Martha Njeri, 97, was the mother of Dr Wilfred Kiboro, the chairman of Nation Media Group. He is highly respected in the media and business industries in Kenya.

In his message, the president eulogized the late Mama Njeri as a charitable matriarch, who espoused family values and always worked hard to uplift the wellbeing of the less privileged in society.

“Mama Njeri Ng’anga was a gracious and generous lady. She will forever be remembered for using her modest earnings from tea farming to educate children from disadvantaged backgrounds. She went further to mentor beneficiaries of her benevolence to become productive citizens,” the president noted.

Meanwhile, the wife of former Naivas chairman Simon Mukuha, Monica Wanjiru Gashwe, is dead.

She died at Aga Khan Hospital at the age of 58, on Monday, barely three weeks after her husband.

She succumbed to a long illness of bravely borne according to a statement from the family.

Coincidentally, her husband, Mukuha passed on August 26, 2019, on a  Monday afternoon, at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, where he was admitted since August 23, 2019, on a Friday after suffering a stroke.

Sources privy to the matter revealed that the stroke may have occurred as a result of him knowing that his wife would succumb to illness.

Her body is being preserved at Lee Funeral Home.
