Esther Passaris Applauds Kenyan Doctors After Successful Surgery

Nairobi Woman Representative, Esther Passaris, has applauded Kenyan doctors for treating a medical condition that she has suffered for 20 years.

While expressing her gratitude on social media, Passaris stated that she has had a pain free night after a period of over two months. This was after a successful surgical procedure.

Passaris was admitted at Aga Khan hospital on Monday morning to undergo a Medial Branch Block procedure which involves a spinal surgery.

Before going to the surgery room, she applauded two Kenyan doctors whom she says are among the best in the world. The doctors, she said, are better than those that she met during her visit to London hospitals.

“While sharing my painful experiences, two people recommended Dr Thikra Shariff. She is a pain management doctor, one of the best in the world and not just Kenya.  She did a series of tests to me, which were even better than those done for me in London,” stated Passaris.

“The Neurosurgeon, Mr Livingstone Olunya is one of the best in the country. I am grateful to God that I can afford his services,” she continued.

A medial branch nerve block is a procedure in which an anaesthetic is injected near small medial nerves connected to a specific facet joint. Several levels of the spine are injected in one procedure.

If the patient experiences marked pain relief immediately after the injection, then the facet joint is determined to be the source of the patient’s pain.

Passaris is to remain in the hospital for three days after the surgery so as to undergo physiotherapy which will strengthen her back muscles.

She couldn’t hide her joy as she alluded the success of the procedure to God and a positive mind that is determined to heal.
