Two Women Exchange Husbands in Busia, Kenyans react

True love is hard to find but if you find one, in the words of Bob Marley, perhaps you should keep in mind that “you may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters?”

If Lilian Weta, 28, and Christopher Abwire, 34, could get a glimpse of the aforementioned quote, then perhaps that will serve as the best explanation to their rare love drama.

The two are finally a couple after Weta and unidentified woman struck a deal that will have them exchange husbands.

Sitting side by side at their home in Siroba Village in Matayos, Busia, the two are not ashamed of their decision and already their love is blossoming undeterred.

In 2016, related incident was reported in Kakamega County when Mangala and Ernest Anjeche, leaving one kilometer apart,decided to swap wives and even appended signatures on an agreement form.

The decision was arrived at  after it became clear that Mangala was having an affair with Anjeche’s wife.

However the swapping went sour after Mangala wanted his wife, Susan Juma, back.

Susan, however, refused to go back and insisted said that she was comfortable and happy with Anjeche.

Though the details of the Busia incident are scanty, Kenyans on social media gave outpouring reactions to the move that is rarely imaginable.

According to Jane Kyalo, the move was “better than killing each other.”

Emmanuel Lihanda believes it’s no big deal.

He reacted by noting: “People from Kenya are so futuristic I bet they have never heard of wife swaps in Kenya, for real in abroad it’s a reality show, it doesn’t get better than this they should be documented for a week .#tvgold ryt there.”

To Clvia Naitore, “if you see something in me you want and in yours that I could use, then why not.”

In addition, Fredick Omukangal believes that the incident s not new.

“I’m not shocked . Kuja hapa Nairobi uone wamlambez na wamnyonyez…..the difference is the level of secrecy !!!” he stated.
