2 reasons why Mariga will win Kibra seat – Jalang’o

Prominent Radio presenters Alex Mwakideu and Jalang’o have weighed in on one the hottest topics in the political scene, MacDonald Mariga’s entry to politics.

This was during their Milele FM Morning show where they shared their sentiments on the footballer running for a political seat.

Mwakideu questioned whether this was the right decision for the football pro to engage in politics.

Jalas, however, disagreed with him saying that President George Weah a former International Footballer was trusted by his country Liberia and that he is running the country so well.

He added that of late, singers, radio broadcasters, television personalities and sports personalities who leaned on their fame or got backed by wealthy sponsors, have managed to win political seats.

Mr Jalas revealed that 2 things will give Mariga a leg up in the political race; the fact that there a lot of Luhyas in Kibra so he will earn more votes from his tribesmen and the fact that Mariga was already successful and famous before dabbling in politics.

Ken Okoth’s successor

Political supremacy battles and muscle-flexing ahead of the 2022 State House contest could overshadow the search for the late Ken Okoth’s successor in the Kibra by-election in November.

Mariga whose name had been earlier listed in a letter that had been purported to be from the Jubilee Party is said to be among 16 aspirants who are set to be interviewed today at the Jubilee headquarters.

Dr. Ruto’s camp reportedly favours Mariga’s candidature and had sensationally claimed that their rivals in the ruling party, led by Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, had hatched a plot to field a weak candidate to help ODM’s candidate win.
