38 Students Arrested in Thika for Engaging in Suspicious Adult Activities

A group of students arrested in Thika for engaging in suspicious activities.

Police in Thika have arrested a group of 38 students suspected to be conducting illegal activities in business premises owned by two young adults.

Among the arrested include 26 secondary school students, nine from college and two primary pupils.

Confirming the incident, Thika Police boss Bernard Ayoo said they have been monitoring suspicious activities in the building for a long period leading to the operation that saw the group nabbed.

“Our officers managed to arrest 38 groups of students. The children fall under the bracket f 10-18 years. It is illegal for such categories of person to engage in such gaming and betting activities,” said Ayoo.

The police boss also confirmed that two people suspected to be operating the business were arrested.

The suspects, Terry Mburu Ndung’u and Anthony Irungu, are currently in police custody and will be arraigned tomorrow.

He condemned the activities and urged parents to be on the look in ensuring that their children uphold moral values.

Ayoo added that parents should ensure and confirm that their children have reported to school to avoid such cases.

On July 31, at least 57 students were rounded up in a business premise within Nakuru town watching pornographic material and smoking bhang.

The students had closed school but opted for the illegal activities before getting home.

At least eight operators of the PlayStations, among them two minors, were arrested during the crackdown.
