Police in Thika are probing the death of an AP officer at billionaire Humphrey Kariuki-owned African Spirits Limited.

According to reports the officer slipped, fell and died on the spot. The incident allegedly happened on Saturday.

Kariuki took to social media on Friday to announce that he would be addressing the media from Milimani law courts. It is not clear if the AP’s death will be part of the briefing.

“Mr Humphrey Kariuki and his legal team will address members of the media today Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Milimani Court immediately after the mention of his Alleged Tax Offences case set for 9 AM before Court Number 1.” Read part of his statement on Twitter

While issuing orders for his arrest some weeks ago, DPP said he had enough evidence to charge the businessman and other suspects for being in possession of unaccustomed goods, counterfeit excise stamps, tax evasion and fraud, all amounting to over Ksh41 billion at his alcohol plant in Thika.
