This could probably the most interesting story you will read today. An MCA in Embu county has revealed how a dead man has been chairing board meetings at a local hospital.

The sensational claims were made by Mumunji Ward Rep Newton Kariuki. He claimed that the chairman of  Kathanje Health Centre Board died years ago but has still been chairing meetings from his grave or hell maybe. Interestingly, the unnamed chairman had his contract renewed in December 2018.

In other equally bizarre cases, some health facilities had board members appointed long before they were opened. Some have boards that meet regularly although not a single patient has been served at the facility.

This emerged during a plenary sitting at the County Assembly to discuss a Motion tabled by Evurore Ward Representative Duncan Mbuim, seeking to compel the County Government to disband all health facility management boards.

A section of Kenyans took to social media to bash the county government for the way its running health facilities.

One facebook user by the name Thomas Momanyi, is claiming that those who scripted the whole scheme to pay ghost workers should be jailed.

“This is how rotten our systems are and who was drawing the sitting allowances the entire board should be taken to court who wrote the minutes he should be jailed without fine option,”he stated.

However this is not news in Kenya, the ghost workers are all over in most public service institutions with most of them receiving salaries for no work done.

But this raises a red alarm on Governor Wambora’s administration. The embattled Governor has survived numerous impeachment cases. The issue of ghost workers may just implicate him to other graft cases which may end his reign in Embu county.
