It’s all systems go for the 2019 Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) games that kick off on Tuesday morning in Kisumu County.
Kisumu Boys and Moi Stadium pitches will host football Under-19 while football under 16, netball and volleyball will be played at Kisumu National Polytechnic pitches.
The teams from different regions of the country will be squaring out for the national titles in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. Football has been divided into two categories; the under 16 and the u19 titles.
All the categories will have new winners this year after last season champions failed to qualify for this year’s showpiece. In the u19 category, both Kakamega High School and Kwale Girls failed to qualify for the nationals while in the U16 category Moi Girls Nangili and St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale didn’t make it either.
Goseta Boys from Kitale who ousted defending champions in the regionals and Dagoretti High school are deemed favorites for the 16 title while Kisumu Day, St. Anthony’s Dagoretti High are favorites for the U19 title.
In the Girls’ category record East African champions Wiyeta Girls and Kobala have been backed for the U16 title. In the u19 category, Arch Bishop Njenga, former East African champions St. John’s Kaloleni and Itigo Girls are favorites for the title.
