Barely some hours after the photos of hailing Kibra MP Ken Okoth who is receiving treatment in France surfaced online, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has promised to sponsor a group of a delegation from Kenya to pay him a courtesy visit in France.
Sonko was reacting to a Twitter post by Ambassador of Kenya to the French Republic Professor Judi Wakhungu who had on Thursday posted a photo of her and the legislator who had paid her a courtesy call in the office.
In the post, Wakhungu said that the recovering MP had updated them on many issues which included his impressive education projects & his plans for increasing them to reach many students in his Kibra constituency. The ambassador added that Okoth was also keen to use Sports Diplomacy to expand his students’ horizons.

It is this post that moved many Kenyans including the Nairobi governor who wished the hailing legislator well. Sonko said that his county government was willing to sponsor and lead a delegation of Nairobians including pastors, Imams and a few residents of Kibra constituency to visit Okoth in France and also to pray for him.
Sonko admitted that it was high time for Kenya as a nation to address the issue of Cancer which is now turning into a national disaster.
“Cancer is really hitting us hard. The most important thing in illness is never to lose heart. However, as a nation, it’s a very high time we should think of having a permanent solution to dealing with this scourge.” read part of Sonko’s post.
Despite his condition, Ken Okoth’s Kibra constituency has been rated among the best in the country in terms of developments and CDF distributions to needy students as well as the building of schools. Recently, the first time legislator was celebrated for his immense contributions towards the construction of Mbagathi Girls High School in his Constituency.
The very touching story of the high spirited Kenneth Okoth, who is suffering from Stage 4 cancer of the colon has left many Kenyans praising him at the same time praying for his quick recovery.
Cancer is quickly rising to become the world’s number 1 killer disease. In 2018, it was estimated that there were nearly 20 million new cancer cases and nearly 10 million deaths. No other disease has caused so much agony and pain and killed many people before.
Many Kenyans however, wished Okoth a quick recovery with many hoping that he will be well and will join them soon in building the nation. Here are some of the reactions;
