Deputy President William Ruto was on Monday evening left a ‘devastated’ being after spending the better part of the day throwing jabs at the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga only to meet him hours later at the State House’s high table in the evening when President Uhuru hosted South Sudan President Salva Kiir for dinner.

Ruto who during the day was in Ekerenyo in North Mugirango Kisii county for a fund drive function had reiterated that his authority as the Deputy President was firm telling off the former Premier for what he termed as being against development projects by the government.

William Ruto’s remarks which have since drawn heavy criticism from the opposition side had referred to Raila Odinga as the ‘lord of poverty.

“You were against the Eurobond because you said it was corrupt; you were against the Northern Collector Tunnel, because you said it was corrupt; you were against us building the (Standard Gauge) Railway, you told us it was corrupt, you are against any Harambee even for women, because you say it is corrupt; but it is because you’re the lord of poverty and you want poverty in our country.” posed Ruto who was already running out of control.

He was responding to Raila’s earlier remarks where he had criticized Deputy President William Ruto in his home turf over frequent church donations.

However, after trading words and blaming each other, the two met in the evening at the State House. Unknown to many including the DP, was that Raila Odinga and also been invited by the President for the dinner including a seat being set aside for him along with those of high ranking officials in the government.

In what was seen as a mockery to William Ruto, Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who is the leader of Kieleweke team through his Facebook page laughed off the DP saying it was hilarious for the Deputy President to spend the better part of his day insulting Raila only to find him in State House later in the evening.

“You spend the whole day insulting a man then your Boss includes him as part of a dinner he’s hosting for an esteemed guest with close friends & work colleagues.” posted Wambugu.

Ruto’s scenario was well explained by Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago’s recent sentiments where he had said that he will never insult other leaders like ODM Boss Raila Odinga.

Mandago had wondered what will happen if he continues insulting Raila Odinga due to politics and one day decides to visit Uhuru in State House only to find Raila having tea with him.

Mandago was insisting on the need and the importance of handshake in the country saying that handshake had helped healed political wounds in the country.
