Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has decided to venture into National Politics joining forces with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
The controversial Governor Sonko and Hon. Moses Kuria have decided to form a new political outfit to that will revolt and counter Team Tangatanga and Kieweleke with the sole purpose of advocating the interest of mwananchi ‘Wanjiku.’
Team Wanjiku, according to the two, will advance the interests of the poor and less fortunate in the society.
In a rally attended by thousands of Kiambu residents at Ruiru Stadium, Sonko and Kuria led a host of other leaders from Kiambu and Nairobi Counties calling for a stop to the early 2022 campaigns.
They said leaders should instead focus on defending the interests of Wanjiku.
Already, a secretariat has been formed.
It will be led by EALA MP Simon Mbugua.
Team Wanjiku will conduct countrywide rallies to preach service delivery.
The rallies will bring on board young elected leaders and youth from all the 47 counties.
“Team Wanjiku is saying enough is enough. No one is there to protect the unemployed youths and women,” Sonko said.
Sonko said the team will push for involvement of youth in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four agenda.
“We are 100% supporting President Uhuru’s Big Four but all we are saying is Wanjiku should be given priority,” he said.
The affordable housing program, according to Sonko, should not be tailor-made for the rich, but must target low income earners in the country.
“We applaud the affordable housing project which will ensure that Wanjiku gets a conducive and affordable house and as young leaders we have to ensure that this is achieved,” he said.
The Governor hit out at those already conducting 2022 campaigns, noting that it is incumbent upon all Kenyans to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta for the remaining three years.
Team Wanjiku will not associate itself with either Team TangaTanga or Kieleweke.
“We don’t belong to any of these groups because they are undermining the President,” he said
Kuria said it is unfortunate and embarrassing to see some leaders engage in early campaigns yet there are pertinent issues affecting the poor in the country.
“Kenyans have to choose between leaders who want to talk about their issues and those who want to take them into political circles without anything meaningful to offer,” Kuria said.
EALA MP Mbugua said Team Wanjiku is ready to work with like-minded leaders and Kenyans who want to advance the Big Four agenda and not with those endlessly politicking.
Business Maina Njenga, politicians Reuben Ndolo, Stanley Livondo and Kalembe Ndile were in attendance.

They all vowed to Marshall youth across the country to join the movement.
“We are telling youth across the country to form groups and we will support them to advocate for the interests of Wanjiku at the grassroot level,” Livondo said.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega also attended the meeting and urged Kenyans to support President Uhuru.
The leaders further urged MPs to ensure that the Sh4.4 billion allocated for youth empowerment is utilized effectively and only for the youth.
