GOT Emilia Clarke’s emotional tribute leaves fans in tears

Emilia Clarke destroys our hearts

The great series Game of Thrones has taken fans on a whirlwind of emotions since its first season up to its very dramatic last episode. From shock, laughter to tears, we have felt it all. Watching the characters grow before our very eyes over the years has been one exhilarating experience.

I have to admit, I joined the bandwagon a little into season four, but Game of Thrones fans are family worldwide. You are welcomed with such enthusiasm its hard to resist.

Game of Thrones has contributed a lot in today’s pop culture, which is weird because it is set in medieval times. It really is sad to say goodbye to our favorite characters.

On Instagram, Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clark, aka Mother of Dragons, wrote a tearful goodbye to the show that launched her career and made her practically family with the cast and crew over eight seasons. Like many of us, she seems at a loss for words to describe the totality of emotions she’s feeling on the eve of its end.

Finding the words to write this post has left me overwhelmed with how much I want to say but how small words feel in comparison to what this show and Dany have meant to me. The mother of dragons chapter has taken up the whole of my adult life. This woman has taken up the whole of my heart. I’ve sweated in the blaze of dragon fire, shed many tears at those who left our family early, and wrung my brain dry trying to do Khaleesi and the masterful words, actions (and names) I was given, justice. Game of Thrones has shaped me as a woman, as an actor and as a human being. I just wish my darling dad was here now to see how far we’ve flown. But to you, dear kind magical fans, I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we’ve made and what I’ve done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams. Without you there is no us. And now our watch has ended. @gameofthrones @hbo #love #motherofdragonsoverandout

If all of that wasn’t enough to bring a tear to your eye, Clarke finally finished with a sendoff to her most loyal army: the Game of Thrones fans.

“To you, dear kind magical fans, I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we’ve made and what I’ve done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams. Without you there is no us.  And now our watch has ended.”

No matter how you feel about this show, nothing can take away the years of great storytelling have left us with so much.

barelyjen Emilia, you don’t know me and I expect this to get lost in the thousands of comments you are receiving, but I’m sitting here, sobbing about the brilliant, beautiful, nuanced performance you have given us over the years as Dany. You were a strong woman to look up to, and in ways, emulate. Even as the tides turned slightly and you became “mad”, we could see it came from a broken place. You played it so well, and gave so much of your self. I enjoy seeing you outside of your character, and your fun, yet biting wit is something I’m drawn to. You are a beacon and a treasure. I appreciate everything you, Emilia, has done to bring us Dany for almost a decade. You did not disappoint. We love you, Khaleesi.
