Opportunity robbers saw at billionaire Reginald Mengi’s burial

Few days after Tanzanian media mogul Reginald Mengi was laid to rest, his family have reported theft of property at the billionaire’s palatial home days after his burial.

According to Tanzania media reports, unknown people got away with jewelry made of  gold, Laptops and unknown sums of money from two rooms in the deceased’s lavish home.

However, two thieves have been held by the police.

This, happened during Mengi’s burial preparations.

The valuables belonged to guests who paid the family a visit to condole with them following their loss.

Following the theft, the family, which is still grieving, is expected to give a full report on the alleged incident, family spokesperson Benson Mengi says.

 

 

 

Kilimanjaro Police Commander has since confirmed the incident, saying police have arrested one person – believed to be one of the family member  in connection to the theft.

The suspect, is aiding the police with investigations.

Mengi, who died on May 2 in Dubai, where he was receiving treatment, was laid to rest on Thursday, May 9. He died at the age of 75.

The media mogul through his IPP Media Group owned 11 newspapers, radio and television stations, and internet properties.
