Ivy Wangeci’s dangerous killer to remain in remand

Naftali Kinuthia, the sole suspect in the gruesome killing of Moi University student Ivy Wangeci will now remain in remand for another month.

During the bail application ruling, Eldoret High Court judge Stephen Githinji directed that Kinuthia be remanded until the probation officer’s report is presented in court.

Kinuthia, through his lawyer Mbiu Kamau, had urged the court to release him on bond arguing that he would not interfere with the case or abscond court.

Justice Githinji however, declined to release him on bond or bail.

Kinuthia who has since pleaded not guilty is accused of hacking Ivy Wangeci with an axe on April 9 outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

Ivy was laid to rest on April 18 at the family’s rural home in Mahiga, Nyeri County.

Last month, Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Nichodemus Moseti ordered Kinuthia to undergo psycho evaluation to determine whether he is fit to stand trial.
