Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has called on the Police Inspector General, Mr Hillary Mutyambai to come and reign the terror that has gripped the county since September last year.
The gang calling itself 42 Brothers are reported to have killed 14 people between the period of September 2018 to January 2019.
Kakamega Police boss, Abdirazak Jaldesa Monday called on the politicians to rally together to combat the gangs.
“This is not a time for any leader to come out and play politics, but a time to sit down together and see how we can help the mwananchi,” Jaldesa said.
Sunday, the gang is suspected to have hacked a pregnant woman to death and killed her teenage daughter in the melee.
The woman’s husband is recuperating in a Matungu Hospital, with the deaths having continued to rise well into Tuesday when a security man was killed.
Malala said that the Matungu Police Station was incapable of responding decisively to the crime reports in Kakamega, and that it would should be revamped.
The senator also called for an overhaul of the entire police force in Matungu to ensure efficient service delivery.
Malala claimed most of the police officers at Matungu sub-county had stayed in the area for more than three years and had developed laxity.
