Has Governor Tolgos left Ruto for team Kitaeleweka?

Days after former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Bundotich alias BUZEKI announced his defection from Ruto’s camp, another Dp’s key ally from the region is speculated to be at the edge of exiting the camp.

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos has also sparked speculation on whether he has joined anti-Ruto forces following his visit to Kabarak in which he met Raila Odinga and Gideon Moi on Sunday.

Mr Tolgos would prove to be a big catch for the team, which has been seen to consist largely of lightweights in the Rift Valley region.

Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny has been leading a loud rebellion against Deputy President William Ruto in the North Rift.

“Also present to receive the former prime minister was Alex Tolgos,” read a text that accompanied Senator Moi’s post on Raila’s visit.

In the photo, Tolgos is seen shaking hands with Mr Odinga as Gideon Moi watches.

According to both Gideon and Raila, the purpose of the visit was for the ODM leader to personally condole with former president Moi following the death of his son, Jonathan. However, the political significance of the event was inescapable.

In the past, Tolgos has openly supported President Kenyatta and recently, he came under attacks from Ruto’s allies for supporting the ongoing DCI probe into the Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal.

The governor made headlines when he apologised to President Uhuru Kenyatta after five MPs from his county attacked the Head of State over what they termed as targetting DP Ruto using the dams probe.
