Battle Royale! Resurgent AFC Leopards face Mathare test, Gor Mahia heads westwards

The Kenya Premier League enters week 28 this weekend with all teams set to in action from Saturday stretching all the way to Monday. Saturday will have only one match with relegation candidates Vihiga United welcoming Chemelil from 3pm.

Vihiga are in real danger of facing the drop this season, they are currently 16th on the log with 21 points, only 3 better than bottom placed Mount Kenya United. Sunday will see 6 matches played with Posta Rangers facing a resurgent Bandari Unite from 2 pm.

AFC Leopards who are unbeaten in their last 8 matches will be at home to face Mathare United in a clash that will see Ingwe move closer to the top 4 should they pick up all 4 points. Mathare United will, however, provide a stern test, Francis Kimanzi’s men are 4th on the log with 43 points and have yet to lose in their last matches.

Defending Champions will be at the Bukhungu Stadium to face a struggling Western Stima from 3 pm. K’Ogallo survived a scare in their last match against KCB to come back from 3 goals down and salvage a point which keeps them in a very healthy position of retaining their title. Western Stima are 13th on the log and have only won1 of their last 5.

Other matches on Saturday will see Kariobangi Sharks host Kakamega Homeboyz while Zoo Kericho welcomes Sony Sugar. The clash of the weekend is without a doubt Tusker FC against second-placed Sofapaka from 4.15pm. Sofapaka are currently second on the table with 52 points while are 6th with 41 points.

Ulinzi Stars host Nzoia at the Afraha on Monday while KCB entertain bottom side Mount Kenya United.
