Wa Iria is among politicians likely to shape Mt Kenya politics with the big question being on whether the region will be supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Governor Wa Iria is also likely to play a big role on who will take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as Mt Kenya’s political kingpin.
The vocal Mt Kenya governor has also not hinted on his possible 2022 successor, even as a section of top politicians are said to be eyeing his seat.
With the 2022 succession politics gaining momentum across the political divide, it is obvious that governor Wa Iria will be playing a critical role especially on who becomes president.
Several Mt Kenya politicians are said to be lining up to succeed President Kenyatta who is likely to retire after his term in 2022.
The Murang’a governor can also opt to quit active politics after his service to the people, but this is unlikely to happen.
It is a matter of time before we know about the governor’s next political destination after his term expires in 2022.
