Ex-Nairobi gubernatorial candidate has hit out at Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Mombasa Governor Ali Hasan Joho, in already spread claims that they are heavy influencers in the narcotics business in the country.

This is as there have been several attempts to bring down the two based on the same allegations but in vain.

The late Internal Minister George Saitoti first named Joho and Sonko as alleged drug traffickers in 2010 when they were still MPs. Alongside the two Saitoti also singled out former Kiambu Governer William Kabogo, former Kilome MP Harun Mwau and Coast businessman Ali Punjani.

Similarly, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang in February 2019 submitted a dossier to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations linking Joho to drug trafficking.

In response to demand for him to retract a public statement he made linking Joho to a drug syndicate, Sang said he will supply the criminal intelligence agency with a list of witnesses with knowledge of Joho’s illicit drug trade.

In yet another row on the two, Miguna Miguna has compared them to globally notorious drug lords Pablo Escobar from Colombia and El-Chappo Guzman from Mexico.

“Joho and Sonko are some of the worst and most inhuman drug dealers in Kenya. They emulated Escobar and El-Chappo and have hooked millions of innocent youth to illicit drugs before parading fake “rescues” and PR stunts to show off their ill-acquired wealth,” Miguna posted on his Twitter.

Miguna further probed the two top leaders President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto for having “mortgaged” the country’s two top cities “to drug dealers in exchange for campaign money.”

While there is yet to be a proper jurisdiction in getting the two in court to answer to the allegations, it remains to be hearsay and dismissed as mere propaganda.

Whether guilty or not guilty of the accusations, Sonko and Joho remain hyping their agenda, politically and economically.

So: who will actually gather the audacity to put an end to it all?
