Residents of Matungu Sub County in Mumias are living in fear after the 42 brothers gang killed three people.

The daring killings come after a security and peacebuilding meeting organized by the area police. The leaders of the gang are known to the villagers as Otini and Abu.

Residents have however associate the gang with a recently sacked Cabinet Secretary. Nine months ago, the minister was on the spot after the current Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala convoy was attacked and shot at in Matungu. The alleged former minister and Malala had had a bitter disagreement a few hours earlier.

The attackers, mostly from the 42 Brothers gang, were chanting pro-Minister’s slogans.

Recently, the Ex-Minister and Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi nearly exchanged blows at the Kisumu International Airport. The former Orange Democratic Youth Leader has always been accused of sending goons to attack opponents.

The guy is suspected to have revived his old thuggery gang. So far, 3 people have been literally slaughtered like chicken. It is alleged that he is on a killing spree to avenge those who didn’t show solidarity with him after he was sacked.

The former minister, however, has denied that the attackers were associated with him, dismissing the stories as fake news. Police have started investigations into the matter and culprits are expected to be judged in the court of law once investigations are over.
