How DCI Pounced on Rogue Nairobi Cops

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is not leaving anything to chance if the cases of policemen arrested in under 24 hours is anything to go by.

Acting on intelligence, detectives drawn from the re-branded DCI pounced on three unsuspecting police officers stationed at Kamukunji Police Station.

After widespread reports of robbery in Kamukunji and Railways areas, sleuths lay a trap for the three rogue cops and waited for the them to fall in.

Police Constables Oliver Tambo Mayabi, Kelvin Andaje and Dancun Wasike were nabbed after DCI detectives in plain clothes busted them harassing residents.

Recovered from them were a sword, handcuffs and vehicle registration plates.

Meanwhile, another rogue police officer was arrested in Kitengela after he was caught extorting money from residents.

The police officer, Steve Omondi was arrested by the sleuths after it emerged he had arbitrarily arrested a man.

The police was later to detain the arrested man in Kasarani, and was demanding a Sh25,000 bribe.

Under cover officers drawn from the DCI busted the cop and locked him up for questioning.

A Toyota Mak II was impounded during the operation and driven to DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road.

These came in the wake of the previous bust in Railways where a section of Kenyans on Twitter demanded to know the real faces of the arrested cops.

Earlier this year, the courts barred DCI from exposing the mugshots of suspected criminals on their Social Media pages.

Before then, the sleuths could parade all their arrested suspects on their pages for the whole world to know.
