Sickly Kibra MP Ken Okoth has asked online bullies to stop killing him before his time comes. The MP was responding to ugly rumors that he had succumbed to cancer.

ODM’s director of communication Philip Etale also released a statement, telling Kenyans that the politician was responding well to medication and was disturbed by news of his demise.

News of the youthful lawmaker’s demise started on a Twitter handle called Road Alerts which has since pulled down the tweet and apologized to Kenyans.

Immediately after the tweet, several Kenyans jumped online with condolence messages.

It is not clear why someone would want to kill the MP, especially at a time when he is battling advanced colorectal cancer.

Last month, the 41-year-old legislator, responding to a tweet by a person who asked how he was doing, readily gave an update.

“Napambana na hali yangu kabisa (I am dealing with my condition). Chemo drugs are brutal on the skin and immunity system,” he said.

Chemotherapy is a form of cancer treatment that uses one or more drugs as part of a standardised regimen. It may be given to cure the disease, to prolong life or to reduce symptoms.

“I was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer, with metastases to the liver,” he told a local daily.
