A woman has died after her throat was allegedly slit when she was attacked at Moi teaching and referral hospital by an assailant who attacked her at the hospitals.
The female student was doing her practicals at the hospital when she was attacked near the accident and emergency wing.
Officers were called to the at the hospital during Tuesday afternoon when a mob attacked the man planning to lynch him.
The attacker is said to have concealed two weapons in a gunny bag when he gained entry into the hospital.On spotting the woman, he hit her on the head with an axe and then cut her neck with a sword.

After the attack he tried fleeing the scene but was apprehended by members of the public.
The man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was rescued by police from the mob that wanted to lynch him.
He has been admitted to the same hospital for injuries sustained from the mob attack.
Police have cordoned off the murder scene as hundreds of people milled around the area.
The motive of the attack has not yet been established.
The sixth-year student was set to graduate in December, according to one of her friends from high school who spoke to the Nation.
