Aguero starts? Man City’s line for Spurs clash

City are sweating on the fitness of key players including Sergio Aguero ahead of their meeting with Tottenham at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Argentine has been sidelined with a muscle strain suffered against Fulham last month and was forced to sit out wins over Cardiff and Brighton.

Gabriel Jesus has been deputising in his absence but Aguero will return to the starting XI if the 30-year-old passes a late fitness test.

Danilo is an option for Pep Guardiola at right-back if Walker is not available while Oleksandr Zinchenko is sidelined with a thigh injury.

Benjamin Mendy has returned to full fitness but may not be risked after starting in the FA Cup semi-final win over the Seagulls.

Fabian Delph is also facing a late fitness test so Aymeric Laporte may shift to left-back.

This would leave John Stones, Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi competing for two central defensive berths.

Fernandinho should anchor the midfield while Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva are most likely to flank the Brazilian.

However, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden have emerged as genuine options in recent weeks and are also in contention to feature.

Further forward, Bernardo Silva is almost certain to start out wide while Raheem Sterlingshould get the nod on the left with both having featured from the off at Wembley.

The pair are Guardiola’s preferred attacking options, although Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrezoffer viable alternatives.
