The match between Liverpool and Tottenham did not seem to carry Mohamed Salah’s luck again.
The Egyptian looked dangerous throughout but his final product was lacking time and time again.
But, he managed to play a major role in Liverpool’s dramatic late winner.
It was his header that eventually ended up in the net after coming off Toby Alderweireld.
It would have been a huge sigh of relief for Salah.
Salah has now not scored in eight games for Liverpool, but he will take confidence knowing he contributed to their vital win over Spurs.
The 26-year-old has been criticised in recent weeks, with many deeming his season a bad one.
That is despite scoring 17 goals and claiming 10 assists in the Premier League this campaign.
His goal tally puts him joint second in the race for the Golden Boot, which indicates he is indeed having a good campaign.
And Salah took the time to fire back at his critics after the game.
“We got the three points, that’s the most important thing,” he told Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports. “I don’t care about the goal.
“I didn’t score for a couple of games, yeah okay, but there are some players that have the same number of goals as me.
“They say that they are having a good season, while I’m the only one having a bad season.
“Aguero only has two goals more than me but he’s having his best season so far.
“But I don’t care too much. I just want to win the Premier League. That’s the most important thing for me.”
He does raise quite a good point, to be honest.
Salah isn’t hasn’t quite hit the heights of last campaign, but a tally of 17 goals and 10 assists after 32 games is still very good going.
He definitely doesn’t deserve the criticism he’s getting at the moment, that’s for sure.
Salah then praised his side for managing to get the three points despite not being at their best.
“You do not always have to play good but the important thing is to get the points,” he said, per the Evening Standard. “The big teams always find a way to get the points and that’s what we did today.
“Each game now is tough. You just have to keep yourself in the race. Our next game is against Southampton and they are fighting for their lives.
“You have to take each game as a challenge. Tottenham played good and they came very close to getting a point. Now we take it game by game.”
