Drogba reveals intention for Chelsea job as Fans call for Sarri sack

Chelsea fans seem to have lost their cool with Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri. Fans could be heard singing “We want Sarri’s head” as the Blues trailed due to an early Camarasa volley after David Luiz failed to properly deal with a loose ball in the box. Late goals from skipper Azpilicueta and substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek sealed safe passage for Sarri as fans called out for a change in management.

Former Assistant coach Steve Holland has been mooted as a potential replacement for Sarri. Holland departed the West London club after Antonio Conte was fired last summer.

Another club legend, John Terry has also been linked with a managerial job – albeit in an assistant role. Terry has been drafted as an assistant manager at Championship side Aston Villa and has tipped to join Holland as an assistant at Stamford Bridge.

A rather unlikely option in the race for a new Chelsea manager is Ivory Coast legend, Didier Drogba. The Former Chelsea star is highly revered by fans at Stamford Bridge and would be a welcomed addition.

However, Didier Drogba has declared he is not interested in going into football management at this time and wants to focus instead on his foundation and football ambassadorial roles.

The Ivorian has continued to be involved in the game since he announced his retirement as a player last year and will star in the Soccer Aid for Unicef match at Stamford Bridge in June.

But the 40-year-old told the Times of India that he is not interested in managing a team right now. ‘I never said that I wanted to get into management,’ he insisted.

‘After my playing career, I needed a break. I enjoy travelling, working with my foundation. So I’m enjoying what I’m doing now.’

Derby County manager, Frank Lampard has also been tipped to take over from Sarri at the end of the season. The Englishman has stated his intentions to manager Chelsea someday in the future but not anytime soon.

Lampard is committed to his cause at the championship club as they chase promotion places. Frank Lampard did his managerial CV some good by dumping Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United out of the EFL Cup.

He eventually lost out on penalties at Stamford Bridge to Sarri’s Chelsea. Frank is a favored candidate due to the fact has has overseen Chelsea academy graduate, Mason Mount progression into a combative midfield machine. Fans expect similar results on fellow academy stars such as Ruben Loftus Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
