Activist Boniface Mwangi has been accused of of inciting KU students to disrupt a public lecture by Uganda president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at Kenyatta University.
On his twitter account,Boniface called on the student to disrupt Museveni speech accusing him of being a dictator.
Mwangi further continued to state that the KU administration forced student to cancel their exam and allow a murderous a platform to lecture them.
“A dictator who has ruled Uganda for 33 years Museveni will give a lecture at Kenyatta University. Exams have been canceled at Kenyatta University to allow a murderous dictator a platform. I hope comrades will give him trouble. Disrupt! Free Stella Nyanzi!,” he posted.
Whereas the 74-year-old leader is credited for stabilizing the once wobbly East African nation after series of multiple coups, his style of leadership has been brought into sharp focus. Arbitrary arrests and detentions have characterized his 33-year long presidency with Makarere University lecturer Stella Nyanzi remaining locked up since November 2018 over anti-Museveni Facebook posts.
Police were forced to lob tear gas canisters at rowdy Kenyatta University students who were shouting pro-Bobi Wine chants outside a building where President Yoweri Museveni was giving a public lecture.
The students numbering tens at first complained about being locked out of the amphitheater where Mr Museveni was giving his lecture at the main campus on Thika-Nairobi highway.
At first, the students where chanting “haki yetu” (our right) which later morphed into pro-Bobi Wine slogans.
Bobi Wine is a member of Parliament in Uganda and musician who has been vocal against Mr Museveni’s leadership and has been mulling running for president.
Now section of leaders are calling for the arrest of the activist Mwangi whom they accuse of shaming president Uhuru.
They argue that leaders are supposed to be accorded respect.
