Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Promises ‘Busy Summer’ At Man Utd – Signings Top Priority

Solskjaer has transformed the fortunes of Manchester United since taking over from Jose Mourinho in mid-December, guiding the club to the Champions League quarter-finals as well as improving their league form.

The Norwegian has spoken in recent weeks about making plans for next season, and he can finally do that with the security of a three-year contract.

Over five first-team players have agreed contract extensions with the club since Solskjaer took the helm, but the 46-year-old’s focus will turn to signing external players in the summer.

Jadon Sancho and Toby Alderweireld are among many names who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in what will be a vital summer transfer window for the club and Solskjaer’s tenure.

And in an interview on the Official Manchester United App, the new full-time manager was probed on the prospect of summer signings.

Asked whether he’s going to have a “really busy summer”, Solskjaer replied: “Yeah, but I’m looking forward to it.

“If you don’t look forward to working for this club then that’s wrong. I can’t wait.

“We’ve spoken about it before, I’ve prepared almost my whole adult life ever since my injury to be a manager.

“And I’ve always been stupid or naive or daft enough to dream about this job.”

The beaming manager also touched on the summer unprompted when speaking about all the upcoming duties he will face, with two Premier League games in four days kicking off the season’s run-in.

“Short-term [Watford and Wolves] are my priority,” Solskjaer said. “Then we’ve got games coming up.

“Then we’ve got the summer window, the transfer window, improving the squad, talking to the players about how we want them to approach next season.

“Obviously I’ve been discussing with Ed and the club my ideas for the future, no it’s more or loss my decision to make.”
