Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today defended his philanthropic gesture which was his response towards the drought situation in Turkana.
The Governor alongside his rescue team had taken a 3 day trip to Turkana and West Pokot with relief food yet he was slammed by some Kenyans and leaders who claimed he did it all for the PR stunts.
Sonko was today forced to defend his actions after the nominated MP
Maina Kamanda called him out saying that he should now focus on the challenges that are facing Nairobians.
The Nairobi Governor says that he did not go to Turkana for a PR stunt and he sees nothing wrong in helping Kenyans who are in need.
” I went to Turkana and West pokot for 3 days knowing Nairobians need services I did not go there to stay forever or perform the duties of their Governor HE Nanok, I did not go for PR as you allege.” he said
He also added that he has been doing his best to serve Nairobians and his administration has been taking up initiatives to ensure that there is smooth running in the city.
Sonko mentioned that he was recently crowned the good deeds Ambassador in Kenya by the Global good deeds organisation based in Israel and this explains why he had to reach out and help those who are affected by drought.
