What DP Ruto told US Ambassador McCarter during a visit in Karen

US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter on Tuesday met deputy president William Ruto at his Karen office where they discussed issues that pertains mutual relationships.

The DP said the relationship between Kenya and US has been of benefits as trade ties and new developments has been strengthened.

The DP said this is in line with Washington’s desire to deepen collaboration in manufacturing, renewable energy, health and our push to actualise  Jubilee Government’s Big Four Agenda.

Two weeks ago, McCarter presented his credentials to President Uhuru Kenyatta Kenyatta at State House where he said he was ready to take up his new role as ambassador.

McCarter vowed to do everything within his power to help prevent Kenya from being used as a terrorist gateway by enhancing the two countries’ strategic alliance to defeat terrorist threats.

“National security is extremely important to both our countries. As Ambassador, I will use my experience to help advance the many development programmes and policy initiatives in our long-standing US-Kenya partnership towards self-reliance,” the US envoy added.

Carter took over from Robert Godec who served for more than six years as the US envoy to Kenya.

Mr Godec exits from Kenya was much welcomed by the opposition team led by Raila Odinga whom they accused of helping Uhuru Kenyatta rig 2017 general election.

Opposition supporters accused Mr Godec and other western diplomats of turning a blind eye to the brutality by the police on opposition fraternity.

Analysts states that Ruto’s meeting with the new ambassador wasn’t accidental as he has to build a good relation in preparation for 2022 presidency.

“Without US blessing there is no way you can rule a Country and Ruto is aware of this and maybe that why he invited the ambassador at his Karen office,”he said.
