A man in Ukraine caused authorities to launch murder investigations after cutting off his infected right foot using a kitchen knife.
Vladimir Tverdokhleb said his foot was infected and rotting and the only way he could get rid of the smell was by chopping it off.
Because of gangrene, the leg of the Ukrainian began to rot, and the man suffered from pain.
According to Daily Mail, the 62-year-old man got rid of his limb while the wife was watching and did not take any painkillers before or after the procedure.
After amputating his infected foot, Vladimir threw it in the trash where a neighbour’s dog picked it.
The dog then took the dismembered foot to its owner’s place where it planned to dig in and enjoy its ‘meal.’
A curious resident then spotted the black foot and immediately wondered what it could be.
After looking closely the woman identified as Irina noticed toes and nails and immediately realised it was a human body part.
“At first I could not make what was it. Then I saw toes and nails and realised it was a human body part. I felt sick,” she said.

Irina called the police who launched a murder investigation after suspecting the foot could be belonging to a murder victim.
However, the investigations were stopped when Vladimir was discovered to be the owner of the rotten foot.
He was rushed to hospital on March 22 after his remaining limb got inflamed. When asked why he took matters into his own hands, he said he could not afford to get the foot amputated in a hospital.
Doctors of the city of Akhtyrka of the Sumy region has confirmed that they will operate him for free.
It is noted that the entire course of treatment will be free.
“ Vladimir is morally ready for the operation and is very pleased that he will finally be relieved of the pain because of which he suffered for a long time ,” stated the medics.
