Kenyatta affirms commitment to prioritizing youth opportunities

Is the government doing enough to address the issue of youth unemployment?

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today Kenyatta affirmed his commitment to prioritizing youth opportunities.

The Kenyan Youth have been complaining and raising concern over the rat of unemployment and the struggle and hustle they go through to earn a living in this tough economy.

A large percent of Kenyans particularly graduates have had to stay for years before getting employed.

Although being creative and ‘self employment’ could seem like a solution to this menace, the state of unemployment call for lasting solutions.

What is the Government doing about it?

Earlier today, Kenyatta stated that his administration is maximizing opportunities for young persons in every corner of the Republic.

He also noted that these opportunities include the Big 4 Agenda which provide young persons with multiple avenues for self-fulfilment, economic empowerment, dignified living and service to Kenya.

Kenyatta added that the government is tapping into new frontiers such as the Blue Economy where Kenyans can make maximum but environmentally conscious use of our water bodies for individual & national economic empowerment.

According to the head of state, this represents a tremendous opportunity for young Kenyans.

“The Digital Era opens up new horizons for young people and my Government is committed to fostering their innovations and creativity to ensure they maximize on the available opportunities.” he said

The President also urged young people to take advantage of the opportunities to build a better future.

He also mentioned that the government has taken bold and decisive actions to reinvigorate the Education System with a focus on digital learning and ICT, seamless transition from Primary to Secondary school for all learners among others which will ensure young people are self-reliant and innovative.

Kenyatta was speaking during the President’s Award-Kenya Gold Award Presentations at State House, Nairobi this afternoon when he gave these remarks.
