The ongoing exchange of words between President Uhuru Kenyatta and politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto is most likely the start of the end of the friendship initially enjoyed by the two.

Kicking it off in Uasin Gishu county on Saturday, Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi bashed Uhuru for allegedly turning against the DP at a time when he is battling claims of graft involvement.

He indirectly implicated Uhuru in the looming takeover of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), but Uhuru would not respond to him until Tuesday.

Speaking after opening the sixth Annual Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga, Uhuru told Sudi to take his claims and suspicions to the relevant investigative agencies.

What one would ask is why is Sudi so daring in his attacks on the Head of State without any fear of being arrested and frustrated by state organs or compelled to hand over the information.

It is most likely that he is being used by some unknown forces, most likely the DP, to get back at the President who appears so passionate about his anti-graft war.

Actually, being a close ally and defender of the DP, Sudi is most likely being used to speak to both Uhuru and the nation.

The vocal MP appears like the messenger being used to relay information, attacks and allegations from Ruto’s side to the President, while the DP hopes that Uhuru slows down a bit.

Him daring the President might indicate that he is enjoying some sort of protection, since DP Ruto is also part of the presidency, and is to some extent fortified.

This shows that Uhuru is indeed using the war on graft to finish his deputy, and unwilling to go down in an embarrassing way, Ruto is fighting back.

Even if this was the truth, it was obvious for him to use an ally of his, as publicly telling Uhuru off will prove right the political group that has been claiming that the Uhuruto team is dead.

It would also further heat the political temperatures in the nation, and probably result in hostility between allies and supporters of the two, arguably destabilizing the nation.
