Family contradicts claims that ‘suicidal’ girl took her life

Glaring discrepancies have emerged following the death of a Meru National Polytechnic in what appeared to be suicide as attested by fellow students and friends.

On Friday last week, Fridah Makena had tried to reach a few of her friends on WhatsApp, telling them she did not want to live a second longer.

“I think I can’t, I have reached the end,” she had stated.

She later reportedly took a video of herself swallowing white pills and moved away from the camera when she was done. She was declared dead several hours later.

During her funeral, however, reports indicate that the girl is said to have died of diabetes, which she had been battling since her high school days.

“The late Fridah enjoyed and lived a healthy life until she was diagnosed with Diabetes while at Kaaga Girls. She showed great signs after receiving treatment,” noted the family.

“On February 25, she was taken ill and admitted to Consolata Hospital where she underwent treatment but her condition worsened due to kidney and liver failure,” the family added.

This was also included in her eulogy, which made rounds on social media for the better part of Thursday evening.

Reports claim Makena had differed with her boyfriend after she found out he was cheating on her.

“ Her classmates tried to convince her not to take her life but she was adamant. Some of her friends who went to check on her after she failed to attend an event they had planned found her unconscious in her room,” a student told Daily Nation.
