Samuel Muchai, the 2017 Sports personality of the year, will grace 2019 Beyond Zero Half Marathon as organizers introduce participation of Paralympians in the race set for Sunday.
Yesterday, the Local Organizing Committee announced that the event will include paralympic races with Muchai, who won gold medal T11 men’s 5,000m at the 2016 the Rio Paralympic Games presiding over the event.
The categories for the year’s half marathon includes 21km half marathon and 10km road races which feature two categories; elite athletes and mass participation.
The Paralympics teams will be use the race pre-qualifies for the 2020 Paralympics Games that kicks off after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Winners for 21km will pocket Sh250, 000 while 10km winners get Sh100,000.

At the same time, National Police has announced road closures to facilitate the marathon. The roads to be affected to include Mombasa, Lusaka, Aerodrome Bunyala, Haile Selassie Roads, Kenyatta Avenue, University Way and Waiyaki Way. First Lady Margaret Kenyatta started the race.
