A man who kept a lion caged at his home in the Czech Republic is dead – mauled by the animal that had lived on his property for three years.
Police say they were called to the property in the village of Zdechov on Tuesday where they found two lions in an enclosure with the body of a man, Michal Prasek.
The deceased had reportedly built separate pens for the lion and lioness.according to the authorities who reported to the scene had to shoot dead the animals in a bid to access Prasek’s corpse.
“The police had to shoot two lions in order to get to the man who was with the animals,” police spokeswoman Lenka Javorkova said .
According to Reuters, Prasek would often invite his neighbours to his backyard whenever they wanted to see the animals. The victim and his pets had drawn concern among local residents and was previously denied permission to build the pens for the lion and lioness.
