Controversial lawyer Prof. Makau Mutua has since declared his presidential ambitions for the 2022 elections.
Mutua who hinted at vying for the top seat in a tweet last week is now saying that he is ‘dead serious’ about the issue.
He says that he is ready and able to transform Kenya and shift it from its current third world status to a first world nation.
His promises include eradicating corruption, malgovernance and mediocrity, which he says he has the needed experience to deal with.
“I want to change Kenya. I have been teaching and writing about State transformation for decades.
I have advised governments and international organisations about it forever. Yet my own country is mired in mediocrity, corruption, and malgovernance,” he claimed.
According to the controversial lawyer, Kenyans should trust him with the leadership and he will steer the nation to the level of the highly ranked Western and Asian countries.
“I want to bring our country into First World status. I can and will do it if our people give me the opportunity,” he added.
But the race is not promising to be an easy one since he is very likely to battle it out with among others, Deputy President William Ruto.
In the 2013 and 2017 elections, he rallied behind opposition leader Raila Odinga.
However, the former Prime Minister lost to Jubilee’s President Uhuru Kenyatta on both occasions.
