Lukaku reflects on working with Solskjaer: ‘It’s helpful to have a striker as a coach’

“I like him. He’s really open and honest with his communication and he keeps me hungry so whenever I get the chance to play I want to do my best and help the team win,” shared Romelu Lukaku on how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer helped him end his goal drought.

“It’s really helpful (to have a striker as a coach). If you look at my career, I’ve always had good strikers who have helped me throughout my career at every stage and now here with Ole, I’ve learned a lot and every day is another chance to learn, to get better and that’s how I see it.”

The striker commented on our injury crisis situation:

“I think it was time for other players to step up, which we did. We won and now we look forward to the next game and hopefully keep the same level and win games along with way. When the injured players come back, they can help us to get where we want to be.”

Amazing Stats that prove if you give Lukaku chances in the box he’ll score! Outside the box is his weakness though. Thanks to @playmaker_EN pic.twitter.com/P4FzWOSTrC— The United Stand (@UnitedStandMUFC) February 28, 2019

Rom is a simple man – he just wants to score:

“I’m a striker, I just want to score goals. I did what I had to do, but I was happy with my overall game too. I was involved in the build-up for the third goal and there were a couple of chances I created against Liverpool too. I’m happy that I helped the team today.”
