Government to assist ambassadors who cheated death in tragic accident

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reassured that the government will offer any assistance needed to the Zambia and Botswana envoys as they recuperate following a gruesome road accident which occurred along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway on Tuesday night.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya Ms. Brenda Muntemba, Mr Kama Wasa Kaluwue, Second Secretary at the Zambia High Commission and Mr. Joseph Guttu, Zambian High Commissioner’s driver, sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident that involved multiple vehicles.

The Ambassador, the accompanying officers and their drivers were rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital where they were admitted and received treatment.

Botswana’s High Commissioner-Designate to Kenya, Mr. Duke Lefhoko escaped with minor injuries and is recuperating at home.

Following lifesaving interventions at the Machakos Hospital, the Zambia High Commissioner, Mr. Kama Wasa Kaluwue and Mr. Joseph Guttu were airlifted from Machakos to Nairobi where they are receiving further treatment.
