BIZARRE: Bloody jackets, razor blades as police nabs illegal oath takers

Police arrested a group of men and women with assorted weapons, piercing and cutting objects after a tip-off that they were conducting an outlawed oath.

The suspects were today charged before a Kapenguria court with taking an unlawful oath.

Prosecutor Sylvester Thuo told Resident Magistrate L. Okwenyu that the police received information that the suspects were taking part in the illegal ceremony at Totum area and mounted an operation.

The officers recovered bloody jackets, razor blades and other paraphernalia, which were presented before court as exhibits.

The 17 men and 15 women denied the charges and were released on a bond of Sh150,000 or a cash bail Sh100,000 pending submission of a probation report.

The case will be mentioned on March 15 while hearing was set for April 15.
