Manchester United are reportedly among a host of clubs monitoring the situation of Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic at Barcelona.

According to several sources including the Daily Mail, the Catalans may consider selling the stylish midfielder this summer in order to balance their books.

Rakitic, 30, is contracted to the La Liga giants until 2021 but Barcelona are not ready to open negotiations over a new deal.

However, the Croatian has already dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from the Nou Camp and insisted in January he wants to open talks with the club about a new contract.

“Since I’ve been here I do not know how many times I’ve left and I’m back.

“I’m more than happy here and my intention is to be here longer. The other day I gave the president a little nudge to see if he would start my renewal.” Rakitic said at the time.

Inter Milan is another team linked with the Barca man and according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, they have already started negotiations for his services.
