MPS are so angered with PS Esther Koimet, this is why

PS Esther Koimet today received a not so good treatment from the legislators.

Koimet ended up being chased away from the National Assembly Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing on Tuesday.

According to the MPs the Transport Permanent Secretary (PS) Esther Koimet  failed to provide records with details of a national airline’s plan to take over JKIA operations.

Members of Parliament were to be provided with the Privately Initiated Investment Proposal (PIIP) but Koimet stated she did not have it.

“What business will we be doing here if you don’t have the proposal? We can’t talk about what we have not seen,” stated Pokot South MP David Pkosing who is alsothe Committee chair.

Vocal Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who is part of the committee, also weighed in on the matter.

“This is not a document that you are going to manufacture. It is in your shelf,” Kuria argued.

The committee gave them an hour to present the document and return with Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.

MPs stated the CS would be the right person to answer their questions in the matter since the decision had been made in cabinet level.

“The CS is at the center of this so we cannot proceed without him,” Shadrack Mose of Kitutu Masaba stated.

This comes after the proposal that JKIA and the airline be merged in a restructuring plan aimed at aiding the airlines’ recovery and boosting its revenues.
